How It Started
In March 2020, during Cape Town's lockdown, our founder, Samukhele Mwase, was approached by a homeless man asking for bread. She gave him bread and tuna, so he could have a real meal.
His joy revealed something powerful: giving could be simple, direct, and dignified.
That moment inspired Cowrie, a platform built to make meaningful giving possible at scale, powered by technology and rooted in trust.
